Real soap is made from natural ingredients, such as oils or fats, and lye. Real soap is able to lift dirt and grime away from surfaces without stripping vital oils from your skin. Many synthetic detergent blends are labeled as “body wash, body gel, etc.” but they may contain little or no real soap. These detergents are sometimes made of synthetic cleaning agents and are often more harsh than real soap. I use a method known as cold processed saponification to make soap!

Cold Processed Saponification is a traditional method for creating soap. When the Sodium hydroxide is added to the fats/oils and blended together thoroughly a chemical reaction occurs. This chemical reaction is called saponification. During the chemical reaction the lye is consumed, leaving no remaining lye in the final product. All that remains is simply just soap.

Soda ash is a white, powdery coating that can appear on soap when lye in the soap batter reacts with carbon dioxide in the air. This often happens in dry environments where the soap cures too quick! It's harmless and doesn't affect the soap's effectiveness, but it can make the soap feel crumbly or obscure intricate designs. I personally think it’s beautiful and looks like a dusting of snow! This is a touch that you only get with hand poured soaps!

You may see little white bubbles on hand poured soap! When we make soap we use a high powered blender that sometimes leaves tiny bubbles. These are completely safe and do not affect the performance of the bars!
